Excuses
It’s been far too long since I’ve put an update here, but trust, I would not forget about all of you without a decent excuse.
The excuse in question secured me a coveted (FREE) spot in a sought-after accommodation with ocean and mountain views. The bad news is that this beautiful spot is the Bali International Hospital.
I want it to be clear that I got myself here through hard work and determination. I am told that most normal unambitious plebeians contract either Typhoid or E. Coli. I, industriously, welcomed both into my organs at once. Indeed I was so welcoming that I was hospitalized.
Thankfully, five days in the slammer has me feeling absolutely invincible (or, at least significantly less deceased then I was feeling five days ago). If all goes according to plan I’ll be out on the streets of Sanur tomorrow, anxiously scouring the neighborhood for the highest quality possible meal I can get my hands on.
I would like to memorialize here that I hold great debts of gratitude to:
- my long-lost-family-friend-who-happened-to-be-nearby Amy for keeping me company and bringing me my luggage,
- my best British mate Charlotte for supplying a spot of water to a bloke on his last legs,
- my parents who kept me sane the whole time from afar,
- the BIH nurse who opened all my water bottles for me (these guys are serving up the tiniest, most criminally well sealed containers I’ve seen in my life),
- And last but certainly not least, the man himself, the Italian Legend LaGiuseppe Brotzu, who discovered (allegedly in a sewer drain) the compound currently going to battle in my gut. This guy rules.
Soon, I have two more updates on my work with a local radio station and finding the hidden windmills. (Spoiler alert, I found the Windmill Master… and a built a digital archiving system for the radio station).
Until then, you may sustain yourself with some new photos. Bonus points if you find the meal that ended me.
Until next time,
